Auction House has become the first residential auctioneer this year to clock-up over 1,000 sales – and the award winning group has passed the milestone two weeks earlier than in 2013.

Auction House ended May having successfully sold 1,021 lots since the beginning of the year, which is an improvement of 15% on 2013.

Commenting on the results, Director Oliver Adams said; “These figures make impressive reading, particularly in the more challenging auction market out there.

“Stock has been harder to find and sellers’ expectations of prices have been higher – so we’re delighted that our regional auctions approach continues to gather momentum.”

One of the reasons for the success is the speed and certainty of the auction process which makes the method attractive in the current conditions, Mr Adams suggests.

He explains that the method is free of the difficulties that can arise in the course of sale by private treaty, where cancellations and chain delays can cause problems for both buyers and sellers. In contrast, exchanges at auction are secured on the fall of the hammer making the process “simple, certain and speedy.”

Auction House has continued to build on its successful start to the year during this month. Among the highlights of the June calendar to date is the 88% success rate recorded by Auction House Copelands at its Chesterfield auction on 4th June.

On the same day, Auction House Staffordshire marked its first Stoke auction by selling 84% of the lots offered.

Elsewhere, Auction House Birmingham & The Black Country achieved the same percentage at its Walsall auction, raising £2,282,000 in the process.

Auction House is the UK’s largest residential auctioneer, in terms of lots sold, and the fourth largest commercial property auctioneer.
