The existing four-strong Newcastle-based team of Barney Frith, Peter Clegg, Satpal Panda and Jenny Atkin is being joined by senior associate Michael Shuker and property finance expert Helen Warren, who trained with City firm Pincent Mason.

Another new team member is conveyancing partner Francesca Angelucci  who is moving to the North-East from niche London private client firm Judge Sykes Frixou.

They are being joined in the New Year by Malcolm Wood, who will act for investors and owner-occupiers in the acquisition and disposal of all commercial property.

The larger property team also falls in line with Square One’s strategy of increasing its connections with London-centric clients and property deals. “I am very excited by the potential of the team,” explained commercial property head, Barney Frith.

“Our reputation in the property sector has organically grown with the market and between us we have built some very strong relationships with developers in London.”

Real estate service provider Savills is expanding its Yorkshire operation with four new appointments.

After 11 years in the Leeds valuation department of commercial property advisors GVA, James Frost is moving to Savills as an associate director in the valuation team. He will consult with local, national and international clients on a range of UK assets.

Robert Morton has joined as an associate in the Leeds commercial property management team and Joe Henderson and Joshua Franklin have both been appointed as graduate surveyors and will work with different departments on rotation over the coming months.

Following on a from a host of new appointments, property firm CBRE has announced three promotions at its Leeds office with Robin Bullas being made up to director and both Alex Hailey and Clair McGowan promoted to associate director.

Wakefield law firm Crooks has hired Sarah Crewe to head the company’s commercial property department.

A St Andrews University graduate, Crewe trained at a leading City of London firm before moving back to Yorkshire where she worked for six years at international law firm DLA Piper in Leeds. She joins Crooks from solicitors Chadwick Lawrence.

Property consultants Knight Frank has strengthened its Leeds office with two new appointments. Real estate management graduate, Sam Jamieson, is joining the agency after working for three years in the York property market. And former DTZ agent Eamon Fox will be starting in January.

Property specialist Rob Hallott has been promoted to partner at Birmingham law firm Anthony Collins Solicitors (ACS).

As a member of the firm’s built environment department he has advised on several multi-million-pound developments, stock transfers and property financing projects. Hallott has been with ACS since 2004.

Birmingham-based CPBigwood has added to its commercial property department with the hiring of surveyor Leah Cave.

After graduating from the University of the West of England at Bristol, she gained experience working as an assistant in the property litigation department of law firm Harrison Clark Rickerbys. At CPBigwood Cave will be assisting the commercial agency department with lettings, sales and the acquisition of retail, office and industrial units throughout the West Midlands.
