The South Devon hotel, which dates back to the mid-nineteenth century, has been operated by Lynda Katz – who now plans to pursue other business interests – for the past decade

The property boasts 24 rooms, 2 apartments, extensive ground floor areas and parking for up to 10 vehicles.

Early indications suggested that a major supermarket chain was interested in acquiring the property, followed by a number of other operators and developers.

After multiple bids – off an asking price of £750,000 – the Queens Hotel was eventually purchased by an unnamed investor who has yet to reveal his intentions for the future of the site.

Charles Darrow Director, Jon Clyne, said: “There has been considerable interest in the Queens Hotel and we were inundated with enquiries from all over the country.

“The hotel is an iconic building which has been a popular destination for visitors, travellers and locals for many years.

“The new buyers have not announced their intentions for the hotel but they are ambitious and forward-thinking and we do expect them to reveal their plans in the near future”.

Newton Abbot based Charles Darrow provides specialist advice and services on various aspects of commercial property including the sale and acquisition of all types of freehold and leasehold businesses.
