WHR Strengthens Regional Team

Two North West property consultancies have “swapped” high-profile executives. Rupert Barron has joined Manchester-based WHR just weeks after his departure from Colliers International. He replaces Mike Hawkins who, earlier this year, made the reverse journey by leaving WHR to join Colliers International.

Business handshake

With more than 25 years’ experience of the region’s property market, Barron joins WHR as an office agency specialist working closely with Peter Skelton, who joined the firm this summer as a development advisor.

“Rupert agreeing to join our team is a real coup for us,” commented Gareth Buckley, a WHR partner. “His wealth of experience and in-depth knowledge of the market is second to none.

“This year has been exceptional for WHR with the company being involved in some of the region’s most significant deals, we believe that we have now built a team of outstanding calibre.”

In a simultaneous move, Jessica Haigh, who has worked in WHR’s professional team for two years, has moved across to also join the office agency department.

Linder Myers Solicitors has boosted its Shropshire commercial property team with the appointment of Diana Barlow. She is crossing the country to work at the firm’s Welshpool office as an associate from East Anglian-based Birketts solicitors.

After 20 years as a property specialist Barlow has extensive experience in all aspects of commercial acquisition and development, investment, landlord and tenant issues, agriculture and renewable energy projects.

Greenfield and brownfield site development expert, Libbie Henderson, has become a partner at the Newcastle-headquartered law firm of Watson Burton after 15 years with rivals Bond Dickinson.

With knowledge of securing funding for real estate projects at a national level, she also has extensive project management experience. Henderson’s specialities include the regeneration of former industrial sites and land-based energy projects, including wind, solar and nuclear.

Award-winning commercial property investor and developer Capital & Centric (C & C) has promoted Louise Pearson to development director.

Joining as development manager soon after the Manchester firm’s launch in November, 2011, he has overseen several landmark schemes including the Littlewoods “Bunker” building on the city’s Edge Lane, 12 Tithebarn Street in Liverpool and the Digital Village in Salford.

C & C has also confirmed the recruitment of Michelle Rothwell, who will join in January from CBRE.

Two Leeds’ law firms have taken on new staff to handle the extra demand on their commercial property departments.

Ison Harrison Solicitors has extended its real estate team to six with the appointment of Sean Gallagher. And SM Commercial has appointed Matthew Walsh as an associate to its Leeds office.
