Have your own Mini Office Olympics

Posted on 2 August, 2012 by MOVEHUT

With the Olympics currently plastered all over the TV, some of us may be feeling left out. But not to worry as you can have your own mini Olympic Games right in your office at work.

Obviously I am not suggesting you turn up for work next Monday is full running kit, sweat bands and water bottle at the ready – but you can do if you wish to. Instead, take some inspiration from the Games in London and have your own mini office Olympics.

You can do an official office Olympics by organising mini games and preparing a schedule of what and who takes part – which may give you a lot more work than there are hours in the day. Or you can host an unofficial office Olympics, which involves participating in random Olympic themed stunts in the office. A famous example of this is ‘Office Olympics – Rowing’, which you can see on the video below.

Office Olympic Events

So what events can you include in your office Olympics? Anything and everything can be included, but don’t forget Health and Safety – after all it’s meant to be a bit of fun, not a disciplinary. Events you could have are:

  • Office Hammer – Swing your computer mouse above your head and the one that lands the furthest away wins
  • Office Hurdles – As you would see on TV, but using chairs instead, the one who hurdles the most chairs wins
  • Office Gymnastics – the best handstand or cartwheel wins
  • Office Javelin – Aim a pencil to land in the bin, the nearest or cleanest shot wins
  • Office Volleyball – screw up a piece of paper for a ball and use your hand to bat it between yourself and your colleague. If you miss the ‘ball’ the other player wins a point. First one to ten points wins
  • Office Water Polo – Each player is given a cup filled with water, which has a polo mint inside. The player to drink the water the fastest, leaving the polo in the cup wins
  • Office Weightlifting – Use computers as weights, the one to lift the most wins.

Good luck to all the offices who participate in the office Olympics. May the best worker win!

What a great idea. but I don’t think my work place would be so keen.
