Homeowners benefit from cheap insulation deal

EDF Energy, the  largest producer of UK of low-carbon electricity, has coupled forces with Wickes, a home improvement retailer to offer reasonably priced DIY insulation to households around the country.

Subsidised by energy company, the partnership, which allows homeowners to insulate their households in less money by taking benefit of low-energy lighting products and Wickes’ insulation , will run till the end of December 2012.

As per the research conducted by Energy Saving Trust, quality loft insulation can help the property owners to save as much as £145 on their annual power bill, and reduce household carbon emissions by 730kg a year.

The head of energy services at EDF, Angus Wilby said: “Finances are stretched for many families at the moment and this DIY insulation offer is a great, inexpensive way of saving money on energy bills”.

“We all understand the importance to insulate our households to save power and money and this joint venture will assist more people do just that.”

Before the introduction of the scheme, Wickes was trading loft insulation at £30 a roll, but the retailer is now giving four rolls at a similar price to its customers.
