Nordic law firm Roschier has signed a leasing deal to occupy 43,000 sq ft of a Stockholm regeneration project — making it the largest letting secured by AMF Fastigheter for its flagship mixed-use scheme.

Urban Escape Stockholm innovative rooftop revealed for the first time

The signing will allow Roschier to move from its base in the Swedish capital to new offices on the top five floors of the 1.4 million sq ft Urban Escape Stockholm development.

When completed in 2019 Urban Escape Stockholm will encompass five buildings, located along four streets and around two newly created public squares. It will also incorporate a unique 37,135 sq ft rooftop garden connecting three office blocks at roof-level.

Anchored by two hotels, a conference facility and Epicenter — the pioneering innovation hub for Stockholm’s booming tech community — Urban Escape Stockholm will blend retail, office and leisure space with “a wider, yet closer network of businesses and people to encourage creativity, collaboration and knowledge-share”.

Karolin Forsling is chief development officer at AMF Fastigheter. “As our flagship urban development, this is a strong base for Roschier to continue to grow its operations in Sweden,” she commented.

“Urban Escape Stockholm has been designed for the workforce of the future, where the divide between professional and personal lives is blurred and people are encouraged to interact with a dynamic and diverse network,” she added. “We have curated a space for a business community that thrives on ideas, co-creation and innovation.”

Last year Norwegian hotel operator, Petter Stordalen, agreed the first Urban Escape lease. That 20-year letting will see two hotels, totalling almost 325,000 sq ft, providing 540 rooms.

AMF Fastigheter — a wholly-owned subsidiary of AMF, one of Sweden’s leading pension companies —  is one of the country’s largest property investment and development companies, focusing on urban commercial office and retail premises in Stockholm.

Fastigheter’s real estate portfolio is dominated by core central business district assets and includes the well-established shopping centre Gallerian and the pioneering retail development Mood Stockholm, all situated in downtown Stockholm.
