One of the country’s leading property marketing specialists looks set for expansion following a management buyout. Jules Shale is now the sole owner of Manchester-based 90degrees, a design and marketing company which specialises in the commercial property market. Government-backed finance for the takeover was arranged by NatWest.

From its Mosley Street offices, the consultancy provides marketing services for the corporate, education, retail, health and public sectors including branding, design for print and web, advertising, multi-media and video production, and social media marketing.

Among its recent commissions were a launch rebranding of Manchester’s One Smithfield Square regeneration project and promoting the internet and social media presence of the Old Granada Studios, now being redeveloped as the region’s biggest innovation and creative hub. It has also attracted clients from as far afield as Ealing, Farnborough, Staines and Bracknell.

“We have a strong position, profile and reputation in the North West and are trying to replicate this across the UK to become the agency of choice for commercial property marketing campaigns in other major cities,” said Shale, who feels his buyout was the drive his business needed to widen its client base.

“We have also built up an impressive track record of using traditional print and digital tools and have successfully established the use of film and video marketing for our clients,” he added.

“More recently we have developed our range of capabilities with the use of bespoke computer and smartphone applications and augmented reality software and I want to continue developing different tools and techniques that deliver exciting results for our clients.”

Several new accounts have already forced Shale into expanding his account handling team with two new appointments, bringing 90degrees’ workforce up to 10.

Kevin Connors was the senior relationship manager at NatWest who helped secure the buyout funding through the Government’s Enterprise Finance Guarantee scheme. “I was delighted to support Jules and 90degrees with this deal,” he said. “It’s an exciting time for the business which has a very promising future.”
