Reading Commercial Property Renaissance?

South Reading could see the opening of huge commercial distribution centre which would see a huge boost for the local economy whilst creating hundreds of jobs!

Tesco are having discussions with the owner of the brewery site to build a distribution centre.

An article published in a National Newspaper on Monday stated that the supermarket giant Tesco was close to closing a deal for the old Scottish & Newcastle brewery site for about £40 million.

Sources say the supermarket giant is in detailed discussion with the owner of the old brewery site to build a regional warehouse.

The plans would be to build on the 58-acre plot at M4 Junction 11. The site would be approximately 700,000 sq ft in size.

A spokesperson for Reading told movehut.co.uk ‘this would be great news for Reading if approved. The proposed development lies on cost effective industrial land, which makes it an attractive proposal for commercial property’.

It is good to see that jobs are being created at such a difficult time which in turn means there are more businesses to service.

Reading is well placed to capitalize on further jobs growth. It has a burgeoning office sector and this serviced office market can provide the space for new and growing service industries, due to the range and flexibility of the space available.

‘Hundreds of Jobs is a huge boost for Reading’ a local spokesman said. ‘Reading has the workforce the right location and supporting structure to help companies grow’.

Jobless figures released today show an increase of 27,000 over the last quarter. Unemployment is now running at a 17 year high, with youth unemployment at an acute level. However, the South is set to recover quicker than other regions of the UK. Reading is at the heart of the wealthy South East and could prove to be a barometer of the UK plc.
