Taking 5,000 sq ft and 10,000 sq ft units respectively, River Island and Sports Direct will enhance the line-up of fashion and lifestyle retailers already on offer at the Coliseum, such as Next, Debenhams, H&M and Outfit.

The owner of Coliseum Shopping Park, The Crown Estate, are ready to progress in the second phase of the programme following a series of upgrades completed in 2014.

Phase two will see exteriors of the park’s middle terrace be rejuvenated with a modern façade, making the retail environment more attractive to visitors. Phase one comprised of an upgrade to the exteriors of the terrace that was occupied by Debenhams, New Look, H&M and Deichmann, as well as a pirate ship themed children’s play area and new community garden.

Head of The Crown Estate’s Regional Portfolio, Hannah Milne, commented: “River Island and Sports Direct will make fantastic additions to the line-up of leading retailers we already have on offer at Coliseum Shopping Park.

“Alongside enhancing the retail offer, we also know that shoppers want to spend their valuable time in attractive, modern surroundings, which is why we’re investing in the park’s buildings and public spaces.”

Frances Baker, Property Director at River Island, added: “We are looking forward to opening in this very successful retail park.”

A spokesperson for Sports Direct said: “We offer something for everybody and we’re very proud to open a flagship store in a great location like Ellesmere Port.”
