Wagamama, the Japanese food chain, is expanding its chain of commercial properties with three new restaurants in the south and one in the Midlands.

Cushman & Wakefield (C&W) are the agents who are acting on behalf of the food chain to source and secure potential future sites. The sites in and around London include 5,300 sq. ft. in Ealing Broadway, 3,500 sq. ft. in Southampton and 2,800 sq. ft. in Fulham. The site in the Midlands will be a 3,500 sq. ft. restaurant in Telford.

C&W worked closely with Wagamama’s Property Director, Sharon Cawthorne to ensure the new locations fitted with the company’s image of “exciting and casual dining.”

Speaking of the four new restaurants, Sharon said: “We continue to work with Cushman & Wakefield to roll out the brand across some of the leading locations across the UK.

“Our new openings are trading fantastically well and we are expanding whilst also maintaining our position as an award winning global restaurant chain.”

Wagamama, which means ‘selfish’ in Japanese, first opened its doors in 1992 in Bloomsbury, London. The company has come a long way since then and is now located in 19 different countries, including: Cyprus, Egypt, Qatar, New Zealand and Turkey.

The first of the four restaurants to open will be in Fulham Broadway Centre on the 11 September. But after these four commercial properties open, the company plans to open a further 15-20 restaurants in the UK next year.
