Christmas Talk in July – Has the World Gone Mad?

Posted on 17 July, 2012 by MOVEHUT

Usually we get Halloween out of the way before we start thinking about Christmas and seeing festive adverts and promotions all over the TV and in retail commercial properties. But this year Tesco has beaten everyone to it and started talking about Christmas in July.

The Olympics haven’t even happened yet, but Tesco thinks now is a good time to start talking about this year’s must have Christmas toys. But surely this is the last thing that consumers want to see in summer. So what are this year’s must have toys that your kids will be pestering you for in months to come?

According to the retail commercial property the top five toys will be: LeapFrog LeapPad, Vtech Innotab 2 (learning tablets for children), Barbie Puppy Play Park, Moshi Monsters and Furby.

Speaking of the toys expected on the 2012 Christmas list, John Stanhope, Tesco’s Toys Category Manager said: “It’s no surprise that technology is at the top of the list – the LeapPad and Innotab are like kids’ versions of the tablet computers that many parents will be hoping to find under the Christmas tree.

“But it’s great to see some classic toys on the list too, such as Barbie, which bring families together.  We work hard to make sure our Christmas toys offer parents something to suit all ages and budgets.”

Along with the top five, there are some classics that have made the top ten. Monopoly is at number six, Lego is at number seven and Spiderman merchandise is at number ten – thanks to the new movie which has just been released.

But do you think July is too early to be talking about Christmas? If it gets any earlier there will be no point even taking the tree down at this rate.

Should we be booking our office Christmas parties too I wonder?

It might be a good idea to start looking Mac. Booking probably isn’t necessary just yet, but you never know 🙂
