Grab Your Christmas Bargains on Black Friday

Black Friday or should it be called Black Monday?

Even if you are a Christmas humbug, you may still enjoy the feeling of giving a present to someone and seeing their face light up. But the feeling is even better if you secretly know that you bought their gift at a seriously reduced price. If this sounds like you then you don’t need to wait until the last few days to try and catch a last minute Christmas bargain, instead check out ‘Black Friday’ which starts today.

Black Friday is an American tradition which takes place on the fourth Thursday in November after Thanksgiving. Retailers typically reduce items by 30, 40, 50 or even 80 per cent. This year it will be the 22nd. Amazon is the main retailer to take part in Black Friday here in the UK with offers starting from today and running for five consecutive days.

Xavier Garambois, Amazon’s Vice President of EU Retail spoke of the success of the previous year.

He said: “There were tens of thousands of items available during Black Friday Deals Week at Amazon.co.uk in 2011 and customers were quick to snap them up before the deals expired. This year we will have even more items and even more deals than ever before but we still expect them to sell-out quickly.”

But if refreshing browsers isn’t your idea of Christmas shopping, you could simply rely on the good old high street. Bargains are still to be had in retailers up and down the country and one famous example is Boots – 3 for 2 Mix & Match. If you buy three items from Boot’s Mix & Match range, you will get the cheapest item free – great for an extra present or treat for yourself.

Do you prefer browsing the high street for Christmas presents rather than browsing a website? Will you be taking advantage of Amazon’s deals or Boot’s 3 for 2 this year?
