How Important is the Office Christmas Party Outfit?

The festive season is in full swing and office parties will be happening up and down the country. You may have already had your work doo, and may be regretting one or two things, but how important was your outfit for the office party?

For some people, the office party is just like any other night out. You may buy a new outfit for it or you may use an outfit that you already have and have only worn once or twice. But for others even contemplating not buying a new outfit would bring them out in a cold shiver.

Women are the worst culprits for dedicating time and money to a new office outfit, but is that any surprise when on average women take much longer to get ready than men. A poll conducted by Lambrini of 2000 women found that 11 per cent would start planning their Christmas party clothing at least six weeks in advance and took 12 hours in total to find the perfect outfit.

The poll also found that on average women will try on four outfits before deciding on the right one and will spend around £68 on their party clothes. If you are the partner of one of the women who took part in the survey, you may want to meet her there as it found that 13 per cent of women took five hours or more to get ready.

Speaking of the poll results, Lorna Tweed from Lambrini, said: “Everyone loves a good Christmas party. It’s a chance for us to dress up and look our best – the perfect time to impress a special someone or get lucky under the mistletoe.”

But for some women, the build-up to the party is sometimes better than the actual office party itself. Almost half of women questioned think that choosing an outfit, getting ready and having drinks with friends is better than mingling with work colleagues at the event itself.

Lorna added: “For many of us it seems this build-up is better than the actual event itself.”

Are you like some of the women in the survey and start planning your office party outfit weeks in advance? Or do you prefer to save money on the outfit and have a good time with the cash you saved?
