A West Country animal charity has added to its investment portfolio with the acquisition of several industrial units at Plympton’s Newnham Industrial Estate.
The Plymouth-based Gerrick Rose Animal Trust — which oversees domestic and wild animal welfare in Devon and Cornwall — has spent more than half-a-million pounds to acquire the linked industrial properties. Rental income from the premises will be used to supplement the charity’s running costs.
The off-market deal for units A to F Huxley Close within the estate was brokered by Glenn Kelly (pictured above), a commercial property specialist at the Plymouth office of nationwide consultants Bruton Knowles.
“The properties are occupied by a number of well-known tenants including St Luke’s Hospice and Kier Western, who have remained in occupation for a number of years,” he explained.
Situated five miles to the east of Plymouth city centre, Newnham Industrial Estate has easy access to the A38 Devon expressway, which links Plymouth to Exeter and beyond to Britain’s motorway network. Other occupants include Brandon Hire, Chaplin’s Superstore, ATS Euromaster and Perry’s Builders Merchants.

“Bruton Knowles advised us from the outset and brokered the deal, giving the charity the chance to complete an off-market transaction and allowing us to secure a good deal in line with the trust’s investment strategy.”
