St Modwen has appointed a new regional director to replace John Dodds, who is retiring after 13 years with the Birmingham developer.
From the beginning of December Steven Prosser, who has been with St Modwen for more than 17 years, steps up from his position as northern regional director to take on the wider management responsibilities.
“During his time at St Modwen, John has made a huge contribution to the business,” commented chief executive Bill Oliver. “He has headed up many of our large regeneration projects such as Longbridge where we are shortly to start on site with a 150,000 sq ft Marks & Spencer store which will anchor the second phase of our flagship Longbridge scheme.”
Prosser’s appointment coincides with St Modwen’s head office relocation from Quinton Business Park, west of the city, to a new base within its £1bn Longbridge regeneration project. The company will occupy 11,300 sq ft of at Park Point, the new build office development situated in the newly created Longbridge town centre.
Property consultancy Bruton Knowles has expanded its commercial property team with two new appointments.
After eight years as an associate at chartered surveyors Gerald Eve, Adrian Walsh has joined Bruton Knowles’ Birmingham office to take charge of its building consultancy team. A specialist in commercial dilapidations disputes and pre-acquisition and due diligence advice, he will be responsible for developing existing services and expanding the client base.
Yvonne Whelan is also joining the firms West Midlands’ office as a facilities manager with the property management team. She previously spent seven years at Lambert Smith Hampton.
SGH Martineau — which describes itself as “an innovative Birmingham law firm” — has promoted senior associate Alison Hancock to a partner in its real estate disputes team.
As a chartered legal executive who joined the firm in 2003, a company spokesman said it was Hancock’s “growing reputation for advising a number of pub companies on issues relating to the beer tie and the recovery of property or arrears that has singled her out for this promotion”.
Specialist planning solicitor Hanna Virta has left City of London law firm Charles Russell to strengthen the commercial property team at Truro-based Stephens Scown LLP. She has experience in a range of issues from planning applications to the Community Infrastructure Levy.
Graduate surveyor Matthew Stott is joining CBRE’s Manchester asset services team. With a degree in Urban Land Economics and an MSc in Real Estate Finance, he worked in Dubai before his most recent position at property managers, The Mansion Group.
Moving from BNP Paribas Real Estate, Eva Francis has joined the commercial property management team at CPBigwood. Working from the agents’ Birmingham office she will help with the day-today running of the department and act as principle support for the team, with particular emphasis on corporate clients.
