Nine Elms on the South Bank has released three new CGIs which reveal the scope of the transformation the £15 billion scheme will bring.

The development will transform one of London’s last remaining industrial districts into a world-class destination in the heart of the capital creating 20,000 new homes and 25,000 new jobs.

The 195 hectare area, just a mile upstream from the Houses of Parliament, is already home to Battersea Power Station which this week released images of the forthcoming office space at the landmark building.

The regeneration project will deliver two new districts at Vauxhall and the Power Station site. Along with commercial and residential accommodation, it will include tube stations, schools, cultural institutions, public squares and parks. The US and Netherlands Embassies will also be relocating to Nine Elms.

Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens (pictured above alongside Vauxhall’s cluster of new tall buildings) will be the centrepiece of the new gallery quarter. This will include the Beaconsfield Gallery and the Pump House Gallery and will soon be home to Damien Hirst’s Newport Street Gallery and Charles Asprey’s Cabinet Gallery, both of which are expected to open later this year.

The South Bank’s linear park and a tree-lined boulevard (below) will provide a landscaped public space linking Battersea Power Station to Vauxhall Cross.

Delivered in stages, each site will form a new link, with private industrial land reclaimed for public use providing footpaths, cycle lanes and outdoor recreational facilities alongside pocket parks.

This week the Nine Elms delivery team is at the annual MIPIM property show in Cannes showcasing its 3D model of the scheme which features buildings by some of the world’s leading architects, including Frank Gehry and Foster+Partners.
