If you have a pet, whether it is a cat, a dog or a chinchilla, you will more than likely have ventured into a Pets At Home store at some point during their lifetime. Let’s face it, they cover everything from grooming products to toys and you can even pick up a new furry friend for your companion if you like. Some stores even have veterinary clinics, so you really can get everything you need under one roof.

With this in mind it in no wonder that Pets At Home have grown so much over recent years and have just opened their 350th store. The Barnsley store is one of the first to have a Vets4Pets veterinary clinic and grooming parlour located inside, giving customers an all-round experience for their pets, as Nick Wood, CEO of the company stated.

He said: “It’s all about giving our customers, who are above all pet lovers, everything they need and want. We offer pet insurance, free water testing for people with acquaria, free nutrition testing for dog and cat owners and micro-chipping. We are constantly looking at new services for our customers.”

Every new store that the company opens with have a veterinary practice, space permitting and the company plans to continue its growth with 30 new commercial properties per year. This is great news for customers as it means they can have evening and weekend appointments to see a vet, which many veterinary clinics don’t offer.

Mr Wood continued: “I think there are plenty of opportunities for growth in the UK with the vets practices, grooming and store roll-outs so we’ll look to maximise value from that.”

Do you think having a veterinary clinic in store is a good idea? Will you be switching vets if a store opens up near you?
