Facebook has hired world renowned architect Frank Gehry to design the interior of the company’s new Euston offices. The 84 year old has also been appointed to carry out the same task at the social network’s Dublin HQ.

Gehry, who has been described by Vanity Fair as the ‘the most important architect of our age,’ was recently hired to work alongside Norman Foster on the third phase of the redevelopment of Battersea Power Station.

Facebook signed a ten year lease on 90,000 sq ft of the Brock Street facility in September and will move its staff from their current London offices on completion in 2016. Other companies to sign up for space include Twitter, Debenhams and Manchester City Football Club.

Facebook’s European chief Nicola Mendelsohn told the Evening Standard that the move will enable the company to expand its London operation and create new jobs.

“Our new home will give us the space to double the number of people working at Facebook London and build on what we’ve achieved there over the past few years, including the only Facebook Engineering Centre in Europe.

“We’re really excited to be able to welcome more talent to Facebook London and continue to help us provide the best possible experience for our growing Facebook community,” she said.

Facebook’s new office is located only minutes away from the site of Google’s new King’s Cross development, which was delayed earlier this week when the company asked the architects to come up with a more ambitious design.
