Gourmet Burger Kitchen, also known as GBK, is a burger restaurant chain established in 2001 in London. The chain has over 75 restaurants throughout the UK in major cities including London, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, York, Glasgow and Cambridge.

In 2016, Gourmet Burger Kitchen was sold to Famous Brands, the company behind Wimpy, for £120m.

The brand’s opening at Highcross Leicester makes its debut in the city. It plans to take up the shopping centre’s 638m2 restaurant unit.

Other restaurants already part of the shopping centre include some of the most popular brands including Bill’s, Byron Hamburgers, Coast to Coat, Frankie & Benny’s, Nando’s, Pizza Express, Turtle Bay and TGI Fridays.

Sarah Fox, Head of Restaurants & Leisure at Hammerson, said: “The fact that this well established and popular restaurant has chosen Highcross to make its all-important debut in the city is testament to the centre’s appeal as the leading retail, dining and leisure destination in the region. We look forward to welcoming GBK in 2017.”
