Two local GP practices, White House and West Street, have merged to take occupancy of the new building, which meets highest environmental standards of BREEAM excellent.

The 21,000 sq ft facility – designed by architects from Bilfinger GVA’s primary healthcare team – comprises 16 clinical rooms, 18 consulting rooms and a pharmacy, arranged over three floors.

During his visit to the centre, which is located in Mr Cameron’s Oxfordshire constituency of Witney, the Prime Minister described the facility as the ‘future of primary healthcare’ and said that its opening marked a ‘great day for Chipping Norton’. He added that he expects to see many more examples of the model in the coming years.

Bilfinger GVA has been involved with the delivery of the healthcare facility from the outset, providing advice on land acquisition and acting as project manager.

Charlie James, architect at GVA in Bristol, commented: “We wanted to create the most welcoming environment for both patients and staff, with excellent access and plenty of car parking, with the flexibility to adapt and respond to the future challenges in primary care.”

“Natural ventilation and good day lighting were key themes we wanted to accentuate throughout the design, reflected in the key building features including canopy and colonnade, atrium and landscaped coutyards.

Mr James continued: “The completion of the project is a great example of Bilfinger GVA’s multi-disciplinary approach-including valuation and consultancy, procurement, architecture and project management- working together to deliver high-quality projects such as here in Chipping Norton.”
